The Taste That Makes You Feel Awesome

Selected Malts

Barley, often malted for whisky, undergoes steeping, germination, and kiln-drying, with smoke sometimes added for flavour, while rye and wheat offer unique alternatives

Mashing

After malting, the barley is mashed with hot water, releasing sugars to form wort for fermentation.

Fermentation

During fermentation, yeast converts the sugar in the wort into alcohol, producing a liquid called the ‘wash’ with 7-10% ABV, ready for distillation.

Distillation

Distillation raises alcohol content while removing toxins and unwanted components. Copper stills, like the wash and spirit stills, enhance flavour by eliminating undesirable smells and tastes.

Maturation

Ageing in oak casks and enzyme-driven mashing are essential steps in whisky production, shaping its flavour, colour, and alcohol content.

Bottling

The final stage involves bottling whisky at a minimum of 40% ABV, often chill-filtered to stay clear when chilled.
